To wrap up 10 months of fundraising for Macmillan cancer support UK, our Director James Noone competed his 10th challenge of 10 to conclude a fundraising effort that has seen him in lakes on bikes and up 4000 meter mountains over the course of 2022 to raise 10 Thousand pounds for a charity very close to his heart. in 2017 James lost his Dad Brian to lung cancer after a short battle with the illness. The support that Macmillan gave to his family during this time gave James and his family time to concentrate on Brian throughout his illness. As a way of repaying this great charity, James embarked on a 10 month challenge which on 2nd October 2022 James closed out as he crossed the finish line at Ironman Barcelona.
Reflecting on the past 10 months James said ‘What an emotional end to a great year. From the start of this, where I was still trying to get to the grips with the enormity of the project, to crossing the line hearing the announcer shout “James Noone you’re an Ironman” in front of my wife and kids was just such a mix of emotions. I hadn’t stopped to reflect on any of the 9 other events which included many firsts for me as I was straight back on the bike in the pool or on the road getting ready for the next event. It was overwhelming but knowing that I have been doing this for the memory of my Dad for such a worthy cause gave me the grit and determination to enable me to not only do the events but have the stomach for the training.’
Well done to James and thankyou to all the businesses and independent sponsors who have helped get James over the 10 thousand pound target. Macmillan is such a great and worthy charity who are doing amazing things in your community today. Anyone wishing to enquire into how they can support can check out via link below.
